For med spas and aesthetic practices

She saw the lip filler on Instagram. She asked ChatGPT who to trust with it.

A 34-year-old has been watching a nurse injector's before-and-after reels for months and she is finally ready. She does not book from Instagram. She types "best botox injector in Scottsdale" into ChatGPT to check the name, ask what it should cost per unit, and see who else comes up. If the answer is three other practices with a named injector and a price, the reel got her ready and somebody else got the first appointment, the membership, and the two friends she brings in next.

TrustPractice runs 25 of those searches for your med spa across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, then tells you whether you were named, which spas and physician practices were named instead, and what on your site and listings is causing the gap.

What patients actually ask AI about med spas

Med spa searches are led by the product and the price. Clients ask for Botox or Dysport, Juvederm, Sculptra, Morpheus8, CoolSculpting, and HydraFacial by brand, and they ask what it costs. First-timers ask conversationally and want to know who will be holding the syringe, which is why "board certified injector" and "medical director" show up so often. Instagram and TikTok create the want; the AI answers the question of where to actually go. These are drawn from the query set we run for med spas:

  • best botox injector in Scottsdale, AZ
  • lip filler in Scottsdale, AZ
  • first time botox in Scottsdale, AZ recommendations
  • laser hair removal in Scottsdale, AZ
  • med spa with board certified injector in Scottsdale, AZ
  • where to get a hydrafacial in Scottsdale, AZ

Six of the 25 queries we run for med spas, shown here for Scottsdale, AZ. Your scan uses your city.

Why med spas get left out of the answer

Med spas get skipped because the proof of their work lives in places language models cannot see.

  1. The menu is a PDF and the site is a booking button

The homepage is a looping video, a Boulevard or Vagaro booking widget, and a downloadable service menu. There is no text page that says Botox, states the per-unit price, names the injector and her license, and names the medical director. The AI attaches a Botox query to whichever practice wrote that paragraph.

  2. Before-and-afters live on Instagram, and the platforms do not go there

Your strongest evidence is a grid of results on Instagram and TikTok, which ChatGPT and Claude do not crawl. What they can read is thin: a Google Business Profile, a few reviews, and the Alle and ASPIRE provider locators, where the listing is often under the medical director's name at an old address. Brand-name queries for Botox, Juvederm, Dysport, and Sculptra lean on those locators, and a mismatched listing means the platform cannot connect the brand to your spa.

  3. The trust queries go to the dermatologist

For "board certified injector" and "first time botox recommendations," the platforms tend to name dermatology and plastic surgery practices that offer injectables, because those sites state board certification in text. A nurse-led spa with an off-site medical director rarely explains the supervision model, so it loses the trust question to the physician practice even when its injectors have more hours behind the needle.

What your score measures

Your grade comes from four factors, each measured against what the three platforms actually said about aesthetic providers in your city.

Discoverability

How many of the 25 med spa queries returned your practice. Spas usually surface on "best med spa" and miss the treatment-specific, price, and credential queries, which is where the first-visit intent sits.

Prominence

When you were named, were you first or listed after a dermatology group and a national chain? In saturated markets the platforms lean toward whichever practice has the most complete treatment pages.

Accuracy

Whether the platforms have your treatments, injectors, and pricing right. We see "does not offer laser hair removal" for spas with two laser rooms, an injector who left last year still credited as the lead, and per-unit prices from a promotion that ended.

Sentiment

How the AI characterizes you. Med spa descriptions echo review language about natural results, upselling at checkout, and whether the injector listened. We show the exact phrasing so you know which reviews the platforms are repeating.

What the action plan looks like for a med spa

Every full report ends with a prioritized action plan. For a med spa it tends to include items like these:

🌐 Website·Web developer·~Half day

Turn the menu into treatment pages with prices and names

Create /treatments/botox-dysport, /treatments/lip-filler, /treatments/laser-hair-removal, and /treatments/hydrafacial as text pages. Each should state the price per unit or per syringe, what a first visit looks like, how long results last, the injector's name and license, and the medical director's name and specialty. Put Scottsdale in the H1.

✏️ Content·Marketing person·~1 hour

Publish a team page that explains who injects and who supervises

Add /our-team with each injector's license (RN, NP, PA), years injecting, advanced training, and the supervising physician's name and board certification. State the supervision model in one plain sentence. This is the page that answers the "board certified injector" query, and most spas do not have it.

📋 Google Profile·You·~1 hour

Fix the Google category and the Alle, ASPIRE, and RealSelf listings

Set the Google Business Profile primary category to Medical spa and add Skin care clinic as secondary. Then confirm the Alle provider locator, Galderma's ASPIRE locator, and your RealSelf listing all use the spa's name and current address rather than the medical director's, and that the treatment lists match the site.

Illustrative. Your report's items are generated from the specific queries you missed and the specific errors the platforms made about your practice.

Questions med spas ask us

Instagram creates interest and referrals create trust, but a large share of first-time clients still check a name before booking, and increasingly they check it with an AI. The scan tells you what that check returns. If the answer names three competitors and describes your spa inaccurately or not at all, the reel is doing work for someone else.

Not by itself. The platforms name nurse-led spas regularly when the site states clearly who injects and who supervises. What hurts is silence: a spa that never explains the model reads as less credible than a physician practice that states board certification in text. The team page in the action plan usually closes that gap.

On price queries, yes, and those are a meaningful share of the set. "Affordable botox" and "how much does lip filler cost" go to practices that state a per-unit or per-syringe range. If you will not publish exact prices, a starting range and a note on membership pricing still gives the platforms something to cite. If you publish nothing, those queries go to whoever did.

It shows every practice the platforms named instead of you, whatever kind of practice it is. In most markets the competitor list for injectable queries mixes med spas, dermatology groups, and plastic surgeons, and the verbatim quotes show why each one was chosen. That is usually where the credential problem becomes visible.
